When I returned the key fob did nothing and the car appeared to be dead. I thought it must have been a flat battery. I used the hidden key to unlock the door. Once unlocked it set off the alarm, which I reset with the smart key. Now the car is fine, started with no sign off loss of battery power and the remote opperates as it did previously.
Hi all, got a problem with the key fob on my x type diesel, basicly it wont work, I have to open the car with the key and put the key in the ignition and turn the ignition on straight away or the alarm goes off, only the drivers door unlocks the rest has to be done manualy, locking the car is done with the key and all the doors lock at the same Hi, you can only do this if you keyless entry, it is an option on some XF models, maybe your car does not have this feature.
